KITE

KITE is a multilingual first-aid communicative kit for humanitarian emergency situations which will also work as the first linguistic immersive experience for migrants and refugees with no prior knowledge of the host language. The several initiatives within this WP will shape a set of basic communication tolos for this target group, which will be hosted into an online open-access platform. These materials will be created in seven European languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, and Polish.

The purpose of KITE is to help to diminish the cultural shock that refugees experience when arriving in a new country, a shock that is especially significant in the case of adults. As already stated, the linguistic adaptation in the host community, addressing people’s first necessities in a critical moment (which is the first contact with a new community, culture, and society), is key to obtaining real integration. That is why the contents of this WP are built around the vital communicative needs of this target group, who have no prior knowledge of the language and host society.

Guide

Teaching with Kite: Practical Activities for Promoting Linguistic and Cultural Inclusion” is s a guide designed to explore the multilingual resources available on the KITE platform and apply them in a variety of educational settings. It brings together a collection of pedagogical activities aimed at helping migrants and refugees connect language learning with real-life communication in the host country, fostering inclusive interaction, literacy development, and social integration.

On our YouTube channel, you can find tutorial videos in all six languages of the guide, explaining how to make the most of the KITE resources. Watch them to discover practical tips and learn how to use the materials effectively.
